ActiveHealth(R) Management CEO to Deliver Opening Remarks for ”Perspectives from Leading Purchasers” and Moderate Innovative Benefit Plan Design Discussion at 3rd Annual World Health Care Congress
3rd Annual World Health Care Congress
NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–April 12, 2006–Lonny Reisman, MD, Chief Executive Officer of ActiveHealth Management (ActiveHealth(R)), will deliver the opening remarks for the “Perspectives from Leading Purchasers” session at the 3rd Annual World Health Care Congress in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, April 18th. Dr. Reisman will also serve as moderator of the “Employing Value-Based Purchasing and Evidence-Based Medicine in Benefit Design” session.

Dr. Reisman will open the “Perspectives from Leading Purchasers” session that will address issues such as:

– The impact of rising health care costs on the competitiveness of the U.S. economy;

– Purchaser demands for the health care industry;

– The transparency of health care value for employers; and

– Payor and provider sector initiatives to respond to employer demands.

As moderator of the value-based purchasing and benefit design forum, Dr. Reisman will guide discussions of innovative strategies that cutting edge companies have used in tailoring their plan designs to promote better care while containing costs. “As part of the discussion, I plan to review ActiveHealth’s experiences with a recent pilot for an evidence-based formulary plan that lowers a patient’s co-pay based on the clinical significance of providing a particular drug,” stated Dr. Reisman. “This program could be expanded to other essential services, including diagnostic tests that greatly impact the quality of health care while reducing costs,” he added.

The World Health Care Congress is the most prestigious meeting of chief executives and senior managers from all sectors of health care. The conference will include over 1,750 CEOs and senior executives from the nation’s leading employers, hospitals, health systems, health plans and pharmaceutical and biotech companies, as well as senior government officials from influential government agencies. Dr. Reisman will join other executives in addressing technology, policy, business and financing issues critical to the development and implementation of essential health care information technology systems.

“I firmly believe that 2006 will be a pivotal year for health care and, in particular, health technology,” said Dr. Reisman. “Many challenges associated with health care quality, cost and access can be surmounted by leveraging information technology to securely disseminate data and provide clinical decision support capabilities directed at each individual’s unique needs. Utilization of technology will promote higher standards of clinical quality, improve efficiency and reduce costs,” he added.
