LogistiCare Awarded Arkansas Medicaid Transportation Management Contract

LogistiCare has announced that the Arkansas Division of Medical Services has awarded the company a contract to manage the Arkansas Medicaid non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) program for three regions.

With a start date of Feb. 1, LogistiCare will manage regions — I, III and XII — which cover the Northwest, North Central and the Central parts of the state. The contract is worth $10.5 million to LogistiCare and is structured as a one-year deal with six one-year renewal options. There are more than 400,000 covered lives eligible for the Arkansas NEMT program. More than 173,000 are in the regions LogistiCare will manage. LogistiCare will operate a call center in Little Rock.

LogistiCare comes to Arkansas with a host of 2006 accomplishments, including URAC accreditation for quality — the first such award to a transportation broker, setting the standard for the rest of the industry.

In addition to the quality accreditation, the company was awarded contracts to manage four regions of South Carolina’s NEMT program, Mississippi’s statewide NEMT program, Philadelphia County’s Medical Assistance Transportation Program, re-awarded the Medicaid NEMT contract in Colorado; and the company received an early contract renewal in Missouri.

In 2005 LogistiCare won its first NEMT contract in Missouri and was re- awarded key NEMT contracts in Virginia, Kentucky and Florida. The company also earned contract extensions in Nevada, Oklahoma, Delaware and Connecticut.

Along with its government clients, LogistiCare also manages non-emergency contracts for managed care organizations in Florida, Ohio, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Michigan, Kansas and the District of Columbia.

Under LogistiCare’s management, states have seen costs for NEMT continue to decrease, while overall healthcare spending has seen significant increases.
