ProVentive Recognized for Initiative to Reduce Nursing Home Institionalization of Seniors

ProVentive, a leading provider of proactive information and outcomes for the health care industry using predictive technology and systemic analytics, announced today that the company’s Reducing Senior Citizen Institutionalization initiative has received a Special Recognition Award in the Pioneer Institute for Public Policy’s 2006 Better Government Competition. The initiative, focused on the Massachusetts Executive Office of Elder Affairs, proposed the development a single repository of information to profile senior citizens at risk for institutionalization and identify the services that are most successful in delaying or avoiding institutional care.

By targeting those seniors at risk before they face a crisis, appropriate intervention can be arranged, avoiding costly and unnecessary nursing home institutionalizations. This “evidenced-based” approach to managing risk is driven by ProVentive’s sophisticated data integration, pattern recognition and data visualization technology, which is currently deployed by leading managed care organizations, public agencies, and self-insured employer groups.

“This year, Massachusetts will spend $150 MM on home care programs designed to reduce the rate of admission to nursing homes. But those efforts lack coordination, and the process of deciding which interventions are most successful is not data-driven,” noted James Fitchett, CEO of ProVentive. “Our solution will allow agencies like the EOAF to allocate resources more effectively, and to truly evaluate the impact of interventions at the organizational and individual levels.”

ProVentive Prospector, the company’s proprietary pattern recognition software, creates a list of at-risk individuals from any structured data element your organization can provide, and filters that list to allow you to focus resources on only those individuals for whom interventions are useful and appropriate. ProVentive Prospector’s advanced data visualization technology then allows you to stratify and segment your at-risk population by intervention type. ProVentive HealthFlo supports your staff in the ongoing care management process of those individuals, providing a comprehensive profile of all outcome, risk and service data for your population.
