Texas State Rep Introduces Legislation to Promote the Growth of Convenient Care Clinics in Texas
State Representative Rob Orr (R-Burleson) has introduced a bill in the Texas House of Representatives that will increase the growth of Convenient Care Clinics across the state of Texas and make affordable and accessible non-emergency healthcare services available to more Texans.
Convenient care clinics, or retail health clinics, are small healthcare facilities located within retail locations with pharmacies. They provide convenient and affordable treatment for routine medical conditions and preventive care.
Convenient clinics are staffed by nurse practitioners and physician’s assistants who are supervised by physicians. Not only do these clinics provide convenient and affordable healthcare services, but they also serve as a gateway to the healthcare system to many Texas residents who otherwise would not have access to affordable healthcare.
Last summer MedBasics introduced the convenient care clinic model to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex when it opened its first clinic inside the new flagship Carnival grocery store in Oak Cliff. MedBasics opened its second clinic in the Carnival grocery store in Northwest Dallas in December and has an agreement with Minyard (which operates the Carnival stores) to open 25 additional clinics over the next three years, including locations later this year in Arlington and Fort Worth.

MedBasics Health clinics provide walk-in medical services inside major retail outlets that provide convenient, affordable and quality treatment for routine medical conditions and preventive care.
When you visit a MedBasics clinic, you will be met by a Certified Nurse Practitioner who can help you Get Well and treat a variety of common illnesses such as allergies, bladder infections, bronchitis, ear and sinus infections and strep throat. MedBasics can help you Stay Healthy and handle your routine medical needs like physical exams, immunizations and flu shots.
No more waiting days for a hard-to-get doctor’s appointment or sitting for hours in an over-crowded hospital emergency room. No more missed days for minor, treatable illnesses. Our clinics are open every day of the week and evenings for your convenience.
