The new Medicare prescription drug program for American seniors has been beset with problems since its inception but faces even greater challenges for the remainder of 2006. April 1st will mark the expiry of the 90-day grace period designed to help seniors transition into the program by maintaining them on previous therapies that may not be covered by their Medicare plan. The May 15th enrollment deadline also looms with little administration sympathy for an extension despite widespread confusion and frustration.
