Website Aims to Help Seniors Wade Through Confusing Health Insurance Plans

DALLAS–Apr 6, 2006 - Sick and tired of online news resources that don’t give enough information to seniors about their healthcare options, Dottie Robertson came up with the idea to provide a health insurance plan news site. The new website, located at http://www.health-plan-news.com, covers health insurance plan news that seniors would be interested in—along with commentary from Robertson herself, a senior that’s troubled with today’s rising healthcare costs.

“Being a senior myself, I’ve been frustrated with all the options that are available, the amount of confusing information out there, and the fact that most health insurance websites are just in it to sell someone a health insurance plan. Being on a somewhat limited budget myself, I know what it’s like for today’s cost-conscious seniors. And with all the options and the addition of the new rules for Medicare this year, I wanted to do something—I wanted to help other seniors find timely and newsworthy information all in one place so that they don’t have to worry about whether or not a salesperson is telling them the right thing. Healthcare costs keep rising, and seniors need a place where they can go to get the latest information about health insurance plans. By starting http://www.health-plan-news.com, I’m attempting to give seniors what they want an unbiased place to go for news and unbiased reviews of healthcare plans available in their area.”

Health Insurance Plan News is written entirely by Dottie Robertson and is updated on a regular basis as time warrants. This new site caters to seniors, but is certainly a website for anyone that needs more information about choosing a health insurance plan. “We’re always looking for information about health insurance plans, so if you’re a health insurance provider then feel free to ask us for a review of your current plans so we can tell others about your plans.”

The Health Insurance Plan News site has been up and running for about a week, and has already covered issues such as issues regarding Power Mobility Devices, healthcare studies, and a recent survey commissioned by the Medicare Rx Education Network and conducted by KRC Research that stated that four out of five seniors are currently satisfied with the new Medicare drug program that went into effect at the beginning of this year. Other issues related to health insurance plans such as the new plan that allows Costco Executive Business Members in Washington to purchase and administer employee benefits insurance online.
